Zookel Ltd has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our commitment to privacy. We take the privacy of our user’s data very seriously and make it our highest priority to ensure the security and confidentiality each of our user’s personal information.
This Privacy Policy (together with our Terms & Conditions and any other documents referred to in it) sets our the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us.
This Privacy Policy only applies to transactions and activities in which you engage, and data gathered, on websites owned or operated by Zookel ("Zookel", "Zookel.com", “Zookel.co.uk” the "site" or "website", the "Zookel Service", or "Service") through our email campaigns or email campaigns conducted on behalf of our clients, and through interaction with Zookel customer services but does not apply to any website not owned or operated by Zookel or offline point of contact between Zookel, or any other company, and consumers.

1. General Information
What are "cookies" and why does Zookel use them?
Cookies are strings of text and numbers that can identify your computer to us when you visit the Site or open an email from us. The Zookel website uses cookies in order to optimise your user experience provided by remembering your content preferences. These cookies do not allow anyone to access your confidential information.
How can I manage cookies?

How does Zookel use my IP address?
We also use your IP addresses (a unique identifier for your computer or other access device) to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer the Zookel web site, to help identify them and to gather broad demographic information. In addition to your IP address we may collect and log standard information including the initiating URL (from which you landed on the Zookel site), the operating system, browser type and the pages visited on Zookel to help us tailor users and visitor's experience whilst on the Zookel site.
What are "web beacons" and why does Zookel use them?
Zookel may use web beacons (also known as clear GIFs) in our emails to track the success of our marketing campaigns. This means that if you open an email from us we can see which pages of our site you visit.
What information do web beacons store and how can I manage them?
Our web beacons do not store additional information on your computer but, by communicating with our cookies on your computer, they can tell us when you have opened our email. If you object to web beacons, we recommend you follow the instructions for deleting existing cookies and disabling future cookies below. We will still know how many of our emails are opened and we will automatically receive your IP address, but we will not identify you as an individual.

When you interact with the Zookel site, or when you contact Zookel by telephone or physical mail in addition to your profile and personal information outlined in the Candidate section below we will collect and process the following data
- Information relating to the jobs you've applied to, jobs you've viewed, your CV, and similar information.
- Information about your usage of our site and the resources that you access.
- Information about you from e-mails or letters you send to us, or from e-mails you send in response to jobs advertised on our Site.
- If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence.
Does Zookel use my information for marketing?
Zookel works with third-party advertising companies, sponsors and other companies to place advertising on the Zookel site and in email communications sent to registered users, and may at times have special offers, or offer goods or services for purchase that are supplied by a Zookel Client. In these circumstances if a user participates in the special offer or purchases goods or services offered, then the user may be required to submit personally identifiable information in order to complete the transaction and may be required to follow a separate registration process. Zookel may provide your Personally Identifiable Information to Zookel Clients for these purposes. By providing us with your email address or other electronic contact details you consent to being contacted by these methods for these purposes. Will my information be sent abroad?
We may have to transfer data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). If we do so we shall ensure that we only transfer data to organisations that offer the same level of protection as we do. In addition data may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers. Such staff may be engaged in, among other things, the fulfilment of your order, the processing of payment details and the provision of support services. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. Is the Zookel web site secure?
Zookel has implemented and follows industry best practice security measures to protect the loss, misuse, alteration, and integrity of the information under our control including but not limited to the use of a secure server when you provide your information to us on our site.
Users can gain access to their Zookel account and modify the information stored there by supplying an email address and password. Users have a duty to ensure that this information is kept secret.
Users also acknowledge that the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorized access
Is there anything else that I should know?
This website contains links to a wide variety of other sites and we display advertisements from third parties on our site. Zookel cannot be responsible for the privacy policies or the content of these websites and third party advertisers, nor for the way in which information about their users is treated. In particular, unless expressly stated, we are not agents for these sites or advertisers nor are we authorised to make representations on their behalf.
As a company Zookel uses our best efforts to limit access to our services to Clients who agree to abide by our terms and conditions. If any Zookel client is found to be breaching these terms and conditions, then we will immediately terminate their use of our services. Zookel may disclose personal user data in order to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation. We may keep your information for a reasonable period for these purposes.
Children
As a recruitment site we do not specifically collect information about children. We believe that children should get their parents' consent before giving out personal information. If you are concerned about your child's use of any of our web sites we encourage you to use Web filtering technology to supervise your child's access to the site.
Limited Liability
Whilst we will use our best endeavours to ensure that jobs advertised within Zookel are suitable and fit for purpose using suitable protection methods, please note that we do not guarantee that our protection methods will be 100% effective.
Consequently, we cannot accept any liability for any direct or indirect damages (including, without limitation, loss of profits, loss of contracts), or any consequential, special, exemplary, punitive or any other monetary or other damages or liabilities arising out of or relating to your use of the application form. In addition, we reserve the right to remove your completed application form and suspend our services in relation to it if we consider in our absolute discretion that providing the service may incur a legal liability for you, our Clients, or us.

This Privacy Policy
This privacy policy is up to date as of 23/10/2008. Zookel reserves the right to amend this Privacy Policy at its sole discretion. If we make any substantive changes to the policy in the future with regard to how we use your information, we will notify you as appropriate. 2. SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES
Your Zookel user profile
When creating a Zookel profile our registration process requires users to enter information including their name, email address and create a password.
In addition you will be able to answer a series of questions in order to complete a psychometric profile, and enter information regarding your skills, experience and interests that will allow recruiters and other users to search for people like you. You will also have a choice as to whether you wish to attach a pdf or word version of your offline CV to your profile, and whether you wish to record a video CV. The amount of information you choose to give is entirely up to you, and you may enter as much or as little as you choose and you can choose not to provide any such personally identifiable information; however, this may limit our ability to provide you with a specific service or particular content.
You have full control over whether to make your profile searchable, who can view your profile, what information they can see and how they can contact you a result. To manage, check or change your contact settings please login to your Zookel account, access your profile page, and click on the contact settings edit button.
How does Zookel use your profile?
Zookel works with employers and recruiters in order to provide opportunities for potential candidates. In order to achieve this Zookel may use users profile information (including their psychometric profile) to match them to various job opportunities. When presented with a job opportunity(s), users can choose whether to act on the opportunity(s).
You have full control over whether to make your profile searchable, who can view your profile, what information they can see and how they can contact you a result. Making your profile searchable considerably increases your exposure to potential employers. To manage, check or change your contact settings please login to your Zookel account, access your profile panel, and click on the contact settings edit button. To expressly prevent your profile from being searched and viewed by our Clients you should choose to the option "No one" in the Define who can see your profile section. Choosing this option means that your profile is not accessible by any employer or recruiter but you can gain access to it and use it when applying for individual jobs. In addition we give users the option of allowing their profile to be discoverable on search engines (such as Google) and on other recruitment websites through Zookel.
Applications
When you apply for a position(s) with one of our Clients, you will have the option of writing a covering email and of including a link to your Zookel profile. In addition with some clients you may be requested to complete a number of qualifying questions. The information submitted by you on your application, including your profile and any qualifying questions will be used by our Client to assess your suitability for the position to which it applies. We are not responsible for framing the qualifying questions our Client's ask, and merely provide the electronic means to enable our Client to present these questions to you when you decide to apply for a role, and to collect the application including your answers to the qualifying questions once they have been completed by you. We do not process any of the data in your applications, which we present to our Clients in our applicants' database. We may, however, temporarily store your completed answers.
You expressly agree, acknowledge and accept that we provide this service as a mere conduit for applications. Whilst we will use our best endeavours to ensure that the application process, and any qualifying questions is suitable for its purpose using suitable protection methods. We cannot however guarantee that our protection methods will ensure that the application form does not include:
- false, inaccurate or misleading information;
- material that infringes a third party's Intellectual Property Rights;
- defamatory, libellous or otherwise unlawful information;
- information that violate any law, statute, regulation or order (including, without limitation, those concerning consumer protection, unfair competition, anti-discrimination or the advertising prohibited goods or services); or
- any virus, worm, Trojan horse, time bomb, cancelbot or other code that contains contaminating or destructive properties.

Networking for Jobs
As a Zookel user you have the option of using Zookel to contact your friends and contacts both within Zookel and within other online and offline services (including but not limited to Facebook, Linkedin, Mtspace, Gmail, Microsoft Office) to let them know you are looking for a new job, opportunity or challenge. When you choose to do this, you will have the option of writing a covering email and of including a link to your Zookel profile and offline CV. If you choose to include a link to your Zookel profile, this link will be uniquely identifiable to you and any access to it will be bound by your user contact settings. For the avoidance of doubt this means that (dependant on your contact settings) this link may be viewed by the general public in addition to Zookel users and clients.
We are not responsible for how your contacts use this network for jobs request, and merely provide the electronic means to enable you to inform your contacts of your availability and present your Zookel profile and CV. We do not process any of the data in your network requests; however we may temporarily store these requests.
What about more sensitive information concerning my health, ethnic origin, trade union membership and criminal offences?
Should you choose to supply data about your health, ethnic origin, trade union membership and criminal offences you may have the choice of making this public or confidential. If you choose to make this information public we shall pass this to employers / recruiters when you apply for a job listed on our site. By submitting this data, you consent to our supplying this data to them. We will hold this data securely and will only supply it to advertisers with your permission.
If the job suits my friend more than it does me, what do I need to do before I refer him/her?
If you provide us with information about your friend, you confirm that s/he has appointed you to act for them, to consent to the processing of his/her personal data including sensitive personal data and that you have informed him/her of our identity and the purposes for which his/her personal data will be processed, as set out in this policy. By referring a friend, you consent to our disclosing your name and email address to that friend.
3. SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR REFERRERS
What do I need to do before referring someone for a job on the Zookel web site?
By referring a candidate to us and providing us with their name and email address, you confirm that they have given you permission to act for them, to consent to the processing of their personal data including sensitive personal data and that you have informed them of our identity and the purposes for which their personal data will be processed, as set out in this policy. Please make sure you do this before referring someone. By providing us with your name and email address, you consent to our disclosing this information to any candidate that you refer to us. In any case, we will inform the candidate that we acquired their name and email address from you.
How does Zookel use the information it obtains from referrers?
Zookel will use the information you supply to us for administering your account and marketing purposes. We may keep your information for a reasonable period for these purposes. We may need to share your information with our service providers and agents for these purposes. We may disclose personal data in order to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.
